Technically Correct - PoE's Approachability Problem
I'm a fairly new player, and got into the game because I like the complexity. But, the complexity does not come with its own intuitiveness. There are so many things wrong with what this game doesn't show you, and how much outside knowledge is required.
1. The amount of people who started the game and linked "faster casting" to stuff like leap slam. I think poe just revels in it's own difficulty sometimes.
Much as mentioned in the comments, a lot of it is archaic too and at this point a host of new interactions rely on older ones as well or are balanced around them. It's a difficult standpoint to be at.
2. My biggest BASIC issue starting out was "what killed me?" Does anyone know if there's a reason there isn't a death message in PoE? It's not that big of a deal now even though there are certainly still times when I'm like ?????, but as a new player that's already entrenched in (100s) hours of required research and game play to really get a firmly basic grasp on the game, it was rather annoying.
3. This game is insane for how much there is to know. I often have six wiki pages up, have played for a couple thousand hours over two years, and I still didn't know this about Kaoms roots. The vast amount of knowledge required to actually understand this game is prohibitive for most of the players to really interact with some of the mechanics, and certainly frightens away a lot of new players. It would be nice for things like this to get cleared up.
